The Walk-in Clinic Wait Time Index
The Medimap Walk-in Clinic Wait Time index uses data collected from more than 1200 walk-in clinics across Canada that use Medimap to publish walk-in clinic wait times online. Approximately 70% of walk-in clinics across the country uses Medimap to update wait times. The data is updated on average every 30 minutes. Medimap currently operates in the following provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia.

While Ontario walk-in clinic wait times improved since 2019, patients in British Columbia continue to experience very long wait times with an average wait of 58 minutes.
- Patients in BC and Nova Scotia have the longest wait times across Canada compared to Ontario and Alberta
- British Columbians have to wait more than double the amount of time (58 minutes) to see a physician at a walk-in clinic, compared to Ontarioans who wait an average of 15 minutes.
- BC’s average wait time increased by 15 minutes from 2019 to 2021.
- Alberta’s average wait time decreased by 7 minutes over the same period of time.
- Ontario wait times have decreased by 11 minutes from 26 minutes in 2019 to 15 minutes in 2021
