However, since Wegovy's active ingredient, semaglutide, is already available in Canada under the name Ozempic for diabetes treatment, this may expedite the approval process. Wegovy's main difference is that it allows for a higher dosage for weight loss compared to Ozempic. It is expected that Wegovy may not be on the market in Quebec for at least the next two years.
