"My partner and I are trying to have a baby. We have been told by some people that it is better to wait 48 hours between each sexual intercourse to give the sperm produced time to mature. Is this true?"

It is not necessary to wait 48 hours between each sexual intercourse in order for sperm to mature. The fertile window for conception is relatively short, lasting only 3 to 4 days. Sperm can survive in the female body for up to this amount of time, while an egg is only viable for about 24 hours after ovulation. It is recommended to have intercourse at least every 2 days during this fertile period, ideally every day.
