It is normal to still have secretions on the 6th day of taking antibiotics for bronchitis. The antibiotics kill the bacteria causing the infection, but it may take more time for all symptoms to improve. It is important to note that coughing and secretions can continue for 1 or 2 weeks after antibiotic treatment. As long as the secretions are not green or brown, it is usually a sign that the body is clearing out mucus produced during the infection.
