"I have one eye that's been very red since yesterday, it's not watering much, and it doesn't hurt. What should I do?"

If you have a red eye that is not running much and not causing pain, it could be due to a bacterial or viral conjunctivitis, or even dry eye. If it is viral, symptoms should improve in 1 to 2 weeks with the use of cool compresses and hydrating eye drops. If it is bacterial, using polysporin eye drops in addition to compresses and hydrating drops can help. If it is just dry eye, hydrating drops and compresses are recommended. If you experience pus discharge, try polysporin drops and see if there is improvement within 3-5 days. If not, consult an optometrist or doctor. If there is no discharge, using hydrating drops and compresses should help. If you experience pain when looking at light or have blurred vision, see an optometrist.
