Rusty knife and tetanus?

If your knife has rust on it, it would be best to discontinue using it, as the rust can create a breeding ground for pathogens and make cleaning less effective. Additionally, there is a low but not zero risk of tetanus if you were to cut yourself with a rusty knife. It is recommended to get a booster shot for tetanus every 5 to 10 years for added protection.
