The risk of toxic shock is present with the menstrual cup, just like with tampons. However, it is safe to wear it during your period, even at night. To avoid toxic shock, it is recommended to respect the 8 to 10 hour interval between each emptying and cleaning of the cup, to wash your hands well before putting in or taking out the cup, and to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding cleaning and sterilizing the cup.
