What can I do to facilitate the healing of diaper rash?

To facilitate the healing of diaper rash, you can use skin protectants like zinc-based products, which are the first choice intervention for this condition. Make sure the cream you use has a sufficient concentration of zinc, ideally between 25% and 30%. Apply the zinc product at each diaper change and/or bowel movement after cleaning the area with water and a mild, unscented soap. If your child is 2 years or older, you can also use a 0.5% hydrocortisone cream on the affected areas twice a day before applying the zinc product. Additionally, try changing diapers frequently, avoiding scented detergents, allowing the skin to air out, and avoiding tight clothing. If your child shows symptoms like fever, weight loss, or fatigue, has no improvement after 7 days of over-the-counter treatment, or has pus, cracks, or ulcers, seek medical advice. Hope these tips help and your child feels better soon!
