When I was discharged from the hospital, they prescribed me Tramacet and Dilaudid. Should I take them alternately?

It is not recommended to take Tramacet and Dilaudid together in the same day as they are similar medications and can potentially cause cumulative side effects, especially in the lungs. Usually, Tramacet is used alone if a person is intolerant or allergic to Dilaudid, or if Dilaudid does not provide relief. These medications should be used sparingly and only when experiencing significant pain related to your operation. Taking them unnecessarily can lead to a rapid dependence on one of the medications. It is advised to contact your pharmacist for further clarification and possibly consult with your doctor for more detailed information.
