It is not recommended to give honey to a baby under the age of 1 due to the risk of infant botulism. When a baby has a cough, it is best to clean their nose with saline water up to 5 times a day, as needed. After about 5 days when the secretions decrease and the cough improves, the nose cleaning should be reduced to a maximum of 3 times a day. It is not necessary to clean the baby's nose if there are no secretions present.
