I want to know which syrup/medication I can take for a cough that would be safe while breastfeeding.

It is possible to take a cough syrup containing dextromethorphan for a short period of time in case of dry cough. Make sure to check with your pharmacist to ensure it is compatible with any other medications you are taking. If you have a productive cough, it is not recommended to use this syrup, as coughing helps clear out mucus. For a sore throat, you can take Tylenol. Non-medicated lozenges and a teaspoon of honey can also help soothe your throat. If your cough worsens despite non-pharmacological measures, if it persists for more than 3 weeks, or if you develop a fever, it is important to see a doctor.
